Flexible Working BenefitsA new study has shown that there are considerable benefits for employers who offer flexible working.

Managers have traditionally been very cynical about . Their views are often hostile, viewing such workers as distant and awkward to manage. There has also been a long held view that by not being in the office, you are out of touch with any chance of promotion.

However, new research from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine shows that it offers many benefits for the employer and their staff. This found that by offering some flexibility, it can lower absenteeism, less time is lost due to illness as well as improving commitment from staff.

They looked at 3,193 employees from a major international pharmaceutical company that implemented flexible working. The results were extremely promising showing distinct improvements in absenteeism, contentment and well being.
